Types

Without Weld (Hand-Formed Closure)

Mechanically formed and folded without welding, this design avoids heat exposure to the filler, making it suitable for PTFE, mica, graphite, and other temperature-sensitive materials. Typically produced up to approximately 1.5 m outer diameter depending on sheet availability, it is preferred for custom sizes, repairs, and non-standard exchanger geometries. While more labor-intensive, it allows precise fabrication for specialized applications.

With Weld (Spot or Continuous Weld Closure)

The jacket overlap is secured by spot or continuous welding, providing a stronger, pressure-resistant closure suited for large diameters and critical service conditions. This method removes sheet-size limitations and improves blow-out resistance under elevated temperatures and pressures. Commonly specified for refineries, petrochemical facilities, power generation, and hazardous media environments requiring dependable sealing performance.
